History
St. Paul United
Methodist Church was first organized in 1945 with 16 charter
members. In Spring, 1946, ground was broken for a building
which would contain both the church and the parsonage. The
first service in the completed Chapel was held on Palm Sunday,
1947. In 1952, the Sanctuary was completed with the first
service also held on Palm Sunday. An educational wing was
completed in the Spring of 1965 along with a newly remodeled
Sanctuary.
From that original
16 members, St. Paul has grown to embrace a membership of
more than 300. We continue our history of offering vital worship
services, nurturing and growth for our members, and outreach
to the Fountain City community. We are a part of the Knoxville
District of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist
Church.
